Malala Yousafzai

Pakistan · born 1997

Yousafzai became internationally known for defending girls’ education after surviving an attack by the Pakistani Taliban. She shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 and co-founded Malala Fund.

Her advocacy connects an individual experience with the barriers keeping girls from school. Education here is a question of rights, resources and the ability to choose a future.

“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.”

Speech to the United Nations, 12 July 2013.
